Our latest
Ukrainian tech stand at Web Summit 2022

Carbominer went to Web Summit 2022 to pitch our Direct Air Capture solution to potential clients and partners, as well as to find investors to close the upcoming $1.5M round.

Web Summit 2022

Web Summit is an annual technology conference held in Lisbon, Portugal, one of the most popular events for startups and investors to meet in person. The 2022 edition of the world-known event took place from 1 to 4 of November and attracted more than 70,000 tech enthusiasts from 160 countries.

During these days, the Carbominer team met more than 15 investors and potential partners. Our biggest achievement was to agree on the next two pilots with the largest Austrian construction company. The pilots are scheduled for Q1 and Q2 of 2023.

New Energy Challenge 2022

New Energy Challenge is the competition for cleantech startups working on energy efficiency and carbon capture technologies. The competition is jointly organized by Rockstart, Shell, Unknown Group, and YES!Delft.

The pitching took place on November 3rd at Shell stand, as part of the NEC 2022 Final Event. Together with 9 other finalists, we presented our technology to Shell and its partners.
Though not winning this competition, our project received attention and exposure to potential corporate partners all over Europe.

Ukrainian Tech Ecosystem

It’s hard to imagine today, but there used to be no country-representing stands at Web Summit. The first country pavilions appeared only in 2017. Among the first were the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland, etc. Ukraine presented its tech ecosystem for the first time at Web Summit 2021.

However, in 2022 Ukraine gained world recognition and genuine interest due to its resilience and fight for freedom in the war against Russian imperialism. No need to say, that this year’s Ukrainian stand was far more impressive and popular, winning the hearts of the international community.

There was another small victory by the Ukrainian ecosystem – the official withdrawal of the two propagandist speakers a week before the event. It happened due to the swift spread of discontentment by Ukrainian and European tech community. It was a bold move by Web Summit organizers, showing that Europe will not let propagandists raise their voices unnoticed anymore.

All in all, these few days went rapidly but with high productivity. We are grateful for the opportunity to present our technology and pitch in front of corporate partners. We believe in the power of networking and plan to come back at Web Summit 2023.
